2016年12月1日 - 3日 "[PGConf.ASIA 2016](http://www.pgconf.asia/JA/2016/)"が開催されました。

PostgreSQLのカンファレンスは、世界中でローカルイベントが開催されておりますが、本イベントは、PostgreSQLの生誕20周年を記念とし、国際カンファレンスとして、アジア初開催のイベントになります。今回は、"PGConf.ASIA 2016"の主催者である、PGConf.ASIA 2016運営実行委員会委員長をご担当の稲葉香理様（SRA OSS, Inc. 日本支社所属）にお話を伺いました。

 

### 世界中のPostgreSQL開発者と日本のユーザの交流の場をつくる

**--- 今回、「PGConf.ASIA 2016」を開催することになったきっかけを教えてください。**

 

PostgreSQLの国際カンファレンスとして、PostgreSQLの生誕20周年を祝おう！！といったコンセプトから開始しました。世界中で数多くの利用があるなかで、記念すべき20周年については、これまでの歴史を振り返り、様々な導入事例・技術関連トピックスにフォーカスしたイベントにしたいといった思いがあります。また、先進的で数多くの利用があると思われる日本において開催することで、世界中のPostgreSQL開発者と日本のユーザの交流の場になればと考えております。

### 初の国際カンファレンスを成功させるために

**--- なぜイベントレジストを使おうと思ったのでしょうか？**

 

これまで、各国で開催しているイベントに類似した小規模イベントであれば、フォームやメールでのやり取りで参加者管理から当日受付まで問題なく対応できましたが、今回は、日本で初めて開催される国際カンファレンスであり、かつ、目的を達成するためには、簡易的・効率的に運用可能なサービスを導入する必要がありました。その中でも、国際カンファレンスに対応した言語、また、請求書決済機能、プロモーションコード、タイムテーブルなど、様々な運用シーンにおいて対応可能な機能やサポートを提供していただけるのがイベントレジストでした。

**---　実際にイベレジを使ってみて、いかがでしたか？**

 

最初の段階で慣れが必要であったが、慣れるまでの時間が短く、かつ、運用開始後も把握したい情報へすぐアクセス可能な状態となっているため、効率的に運用がすることができました。  
また、申込ウィジェット、開催日までのカウントダウン、個人情報への許諾など、イベントレジスト自体をイベントの一部として見せることで、申込者にとって違和感なく利用していいただける状態を作りだせるのも助かりました。

なにより、他社の導入事例にも記載されておりましたが、設定内容や方法について、少しでもわからないことがあると、質問に対してのレスポンスがとてもよく、返事が早く、適切なため、ユーザーから問い合わせが来た際、不安になることなく、安心してスムーズに対応することが出来たのは、機能以上に価値を感じることのできた部分でした。

### PGConf.ASIAとは？

---　**PGConf.ASIAを今後、どのようにしていきたいですか。**

 

ビジネス参加者にとって慌ただしい、12月での開催となりましたが、参加者の満足度も高く、1回目の開催としては、成功としてとらえています。イベント自体には、Asiaとしての冠がついているので、各国での持ち回り運営も検討しているが、次回についても日本での開催される可能性も高い状況です。もし、開催されるようであれば、セッション数を増加し、来場者にとって、さらに有意義なイベントとなるようにしたいと考えております。

国際カンファレンスのみならず、PostgreSQL関連の小規模セミナーなども開催しておりますので、皆さん、引続きよろしくお願いいたします。
